About us

Who We Are

Roots & Bridge Publishing is an independent Canadian publishing house connecting cultures through literature and art.

We believe stories deserve careful handling. Language carries memory, identity, lived experience. Our work is to make those experiences cross borders without losing their shape.

Migration today looks different than it did a generation ago. Distance no longer means silence. Families video call across time zones. Decisions are made together across continents. Cultural ties don't fade — they persist in real time.

This changes how identity forms. People no longer leave one culture behind to enter another. They inhabit multiple worlds at once.

What We Do

We publish bilingual books and translations — bringing global works to Canadian readers and local voices to international audiences.

We're drawn to stories about how cultures blend in daily life: at dinner tables between parents and children, in classrooms, in neighbourhoods, in the quiet negotiations between generations.

Cultural fusion isn't dramatic. It's gradual, unfolding in ordinary moments. Over time, it creates something new.

Our Perspective

Earlier generations of immigrants often watched the gap widen between their old lives and their new ones. Today, connection stays constant. This continuity eases some insecurities but creates new complexities — new forms of responsibility, new questions about belonging.

We see publishing as a way to reflect this layered reality. Not just preserving roots, but recognizing what emerges when cultures stay in conversation.

Stories help us understand that we don't belong to one place alone. We belong across relationships, histories, and the time we share.
