Welcome to Roots & Bridge Publishing, where stories connect.
Roots & Bridge was founded at the end of 2023 with a clear, twofold vision—true to our name.
We believe stories begin with roots: the cultural memories, languages, and lived experiences immigrants carry with them. And we believe stories also build bridges—between past and present, heritage and new beginnings, and between people who may have never met, but recognize themselves in one another.
Our early children’s titles, including the bilingual bedtime story Today I Am a Soybean and Niara: First Day at School, were created by parents seeking meaningful, culturally grounded reading experiences for their children. These books continue to find their place in Toronto bookstores and family homes, supporting language learning and emotional growth.
Today, our focus expands.
Our newest publication, Unframed: Canadian Immigrant Artists Anthology 2025, marks a significant step forward for Roots & Bridge. This book is not for children—it is for readers, collectors, and cultural observers.
Featuring works by immigrant artists from diverse backgrounds, the anthology pairs a carefully curated visual design with deeply personal narratives behind each artwork. It explores identity, displacement, resilience, and creativity—revealing how art becomes a language when words alone are not enough.
More than an art book, this anthology is a living record of cross-cultural dialogue and personal journeys. It reflects who we are as immigrants, as creators, and as members of a shared cultural landscape.
At Roots & Bridge, we publish stories that remember where we come from—and imagine where we can meet.
Our Mission
We connect cultures through literature and art.
We discover exceptional works from around the world and publish bilingual editions that honour both languages. Working with Canadian translators and designers, we create books where meaning travels intact and beauty finds new form.
We also champion local writers and artists, helping their stories reach readers abroad. Cultural exchange flows both ways — it's a conversation, not a broadcast.
Today's readers often live between worlds. They speak one language at breakfast, another at work. They carry multiple cultures within them, not as separate compartments, but as living, evolving parts of who they are.
Our books reflect this reality. We publish stories about what happens when cultures meet: in families navigating heritage and belonging, across generations bridging old and new worlds, between strangers who become intimates and reshape each other in the process.
Let’s Talk.
We love to hear your thoughts!
